Flutist and Pedagogue
Yamaha Performing Artist and Fulbright Scholar Dr. Patricia Surman is the Associate Professor of Flute and Director of Woodwind Studies at MSU Denver. A twenty-first-century musician, Patricia has performed as a soloist and chamber musician in North and South America, Asia and Europe. A passionate and dedicated teacher, Patricia is committed to guiding her students through the process of discovering how to cultivate their own innate musical gifts with the flute.
Private Study:
I am available for private lessons in Denver and Boulder, CO. I can schedule 45-minute or 60-minute weekly lessons, or private lessons on an as-needed basis. If you are not in the area, please visit my "calendar" page to see if I will be in your area in the near future so we can arrange a lesson. I am also available for lessons during the NFA Convention in August.
Pre-College and Post-Graduate Study:
This lesson track is toward students who wish to pursue a college degree in music or are preparing for graduate school/orchestral auditions. This study track includes weekly hour lessons, attendance and participation in technique class (Sunday mornings at 10), and mock auditions. Additional focus will be placed on competitions and preparation for performances.
Online Lessons:
